HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04052011 - C.59RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Risk Manager to execute a contract with the Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) in an amount not to exceed $185,640 to perform medical billing reviews for the period effective January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. (100% Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund) FISCAL IMPACT: 100% funded by the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) and the Contra Costa County Risk Management Division created a joint partnership as public entities in 2003. CCCSIG has provided workers’ compensation medical bill review services for Risk Management at approximately a 60% reduction in annual review costs from the County’s former private provider. This is a renewal of the original contract and will allow the County to receive the same service fees, which would remain at $15,470 per month. CCCSIG will adjust or reject bills that fail to comply with the State fee schedule. Risk Management would not be able to comply with the Official Medical Fee Schedule promulgated by the Division of Workers' Compensation, a division of the California Department of Industrial Relations CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
