APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Hunter
Research, Inc., to increase the payment limit by $112,542 to a new payment limit of $1,574,572 for additional
ARIES Justice Integration Project software development, programming, and maintenance, with no change to the
contract period.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$112,542, No net County costs; 100% Agency Fees and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) 2008 Grant
Program.
BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Office contracted with Hunter to provide ARIES Justice Integration Project software development,
programming, and maintenance from September 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010, with a payment limit of
$1,462,030. Actual costs for the contract period totaled $1,574,572, or $112,542 over the contract maximum. This
was due to additional development costs associated with the continued expansion of this project, to include the
addition of new agency users (covered by Agency fees) and additional software enhancements reimbursed by grant
funds. The ARIES project was approved by

the Automated Regional Information Exchange System (ARIES) Operations Committee and originally adopted in
concept by the County Justice Automation Advisory Committee (JAAC) for countywide justice and law enforcement
system integration and information sharing. This contract amendment will allow payment of the final invoices for this
contract period.
