Richmond, CA 94801 FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: The Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board was created in 1992 by the Board of Supervisors. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) that they serve. The Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board is comprised of twenty-one members (20 members ans one alternate). Members shall have a professional interest in, or personal commitment to, alleviating problems related to drug abuse and inappropriate alcohol use in their community. The alternate member can sit and vote for any of the five At-large seats on the Committee. If a vacancy occurs, the alternate will automatically assume the vacant At-large seat. The membership breakdown is as follows: Three representatives to be nominated by each member of the Board of Supervisors. Five at-large members to be nominated by the Internal Operations Committee to insure geographic, racial and ethnic diversity on the Advisory Board. One alternate member to be nominated by the Internal Operations Committee. Members serve for three year terms. Supervisor Gioia recruits for his advisory board seats in a variety of ways including through the traditional media, and through his website, eblasts, and newsletter. He interviews all eligible candidates. Ms. Saucer Bibo, a certified dental assistant, has a background working as a caregiver for the elderly and disabled. She is a member of the Richmond Parks and Recreation Commission and involved in NA and AA 12 step recovery programs. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The seat will remain unfilled.
