CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 9 0/5 8 Proclaiming February as Heart Month in Contra Costa County diseases of the heart and blood vessels this year will kill almost one million Americans,which nearly equals the total number of deaths from all other causes combined; and WHEREAS,an estimated 190,000 of these victims die before retirement age; and WHEREAS,the American Heart Association is the only voluntary health agency whose sole mission is to reduce disability and death from heart disease, stroke and related disorders; and WHEREAS,the American Heart Associations relentless battle against this American epidemic combines a nationwide research program, as well as improving health care in the community through professional and public education, and community service programs; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim the month of February as American Heart Month and urges all citizens to support the educational and fund raising campaign of the East County Chapter of the American Heart Association. Contributions of time and money will help in the fight against heart disease and stroke; PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 30th day of January, 1990.
