HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03222011 - SD.3RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2011/105 approving the Side Letter of Agreement between the County and the Probation Peace Officers Association of Contra Costa County (PPOACCC) regarding the voluntary reassignment process for the Adult Court Deputy Probation Officers. FISCAL IMPACT: No Fiscal Impact. BACKGROUND: The Probation Department and the Probation Peace Officer Association of Contra Costa County (PPOACCC) met to discuss the voluntary reassignment process for the Adult Court Branch Deputy Probation officers. Historically, the Adult Branch Court Deputy Probation Officer (ABCDPO) positions were kept separate from the Probation field units and were separately supervised by a Probation Manager. The ABCDPO positions were, and continue to be, paid for and selected by the Superior Court. These ABCDPO positions were placed under the supervision of a Probation Supervisor based solely on the geographical locations of the Superior Courthouses. This change in supervision was not intended to change the reassignment procedures that have historically been applicable to the ABCDPO positions. This side letter addresses and corrects the reassignment process for the ABCDPO positions. A side letter of agreement was signed by the County and PPOACCC on March 2, 2011. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved by the Board, it will negatively impact the current process that was established between the Superior Courts and the Probation Department regarding the selection of the Adult Branch Court Deputy Probation Officers.
