HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03222011 - C.37RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Meditech in the amount not to exceed $160,000 for the annual maintenance of the healthcare information system, for the period of April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: Meditech is a mission critical application that is primarily used by a variety of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Center staff in their daily clinical work. Contra Costa Health Services has purchased the following Meditech modules to automate manual processes, document patient care and enhance patient safety: Laboratory, Microbiology, Pathology, Blood Bank, Order Entry, Patient Care inquiry, Pharmacy, emergency Department, Patient Discharge Instructions, Data Repository, Materials Management, Magic Office and Order Entry. It also allows Contra Costa Health Services Information Systems Dept staff to report and escalate system issues to Meditech for analysis and resolution. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Purchase is not approved, the Department would not be able to provide services electronically to our patients. Meditech also handles all pharmacy requests, radiology imaging reporting and integrates with the pharmacy system at the jail. Without this system we would not be able to send medication to inmates, and in-patients. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
