HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03222011 - C.24RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department director, or designee, to apply for and accept funding from California Department of Community Services and Development in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for an Assistant Trainee program during the term May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: No County match. 100% State funding / Federal pass through (CFDA # 93.569) BACKGROUND: The Department's Community Services Bureau (CSB) submitted a grant application to California Department of Community Services and Development's Discretionary fund to maintain the Assistant Trainee Program. The Assistant Trainee program began in July 2009. The program provided 8 low-income County residents with on-the-job training opportunities within the Bureau's administration. The funding will allow the program to contine for another 12-month period. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, the application will not be submitted which may result in the elimination of the Assistant Trainee program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
