HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01091990 - 90/03IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF COMMENDING Diane Schinnerer) for contributions made to ) the citizens of San Ramon )RESOLUTION NO. 90/3 WHEREAS, Diane Schinnerer, her husband Don, and their children, John and Amy established their home in San Ramon during .1966 at which time boasted a population of only 150; and WHEREAS, during those early years Diane devoted countless hours to developing a strong 'Girl Scout organization in the San Ramon and Dublin area; and WHEREAS, Diane was appointed to the Park and Recreation Committee of the Valley Service District which ultimately became the Dublin/San Ramon Service District, was elected to its Board of Directors, served for four years, one of which she served as Chair of the Board; and WHEREAS, Diane was a major force in the successful campaign to incor- porate San Ramon, was elected with the highest number of votes as a Council member and was selected to be the first Mayor of San Ramon on July 1 , 1983 and again as Mayor in 1987-1988; and WHEREAS, Diane enthusiastically embraced her tasks as a Council member, motivating all who were in her presence, while adding that certain flavor of humor for which she is so well known; and WHEREAS, Diane' s interest in transit matters lead to her involvement with the Central Contra Costa Transit Authority, serving as Secretary, Vice Chair- and as Chair of the Board of Directors, gaining respect of her peers for her exemplary leadership and well organized meetings; and WHEREAS, Diane has been extremely dedicated to the improvement of Senior Services, initiated a model ordinance for Child care and was instru- mental in the creation of The San Ramon Library and its Foundation to name only a few of her achievements; and WHEREAS, Diane has been awarded such distinguished honors as Dublin/ San Ramon Citizen of the Year, San Francisco Bay Girl Scout Council Woman of the Year, the First San Ramon Soroptimist Woman of Distinction and the First San Ramon AAUW Woman of the Year; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Supervisors acknowledges and extends its appreciation to Diane Schinnerer for her extraordinary compassion, generosity and community spirit and WISHES Her Continued SUCCESS in all her future endeavors; and PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on_ this 9th day of January.
