HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03152011 - C.120RECOMMENDATION(S): Adopt Resolution No: 2011/110 authorizing and directing the Auditor-Controller to establish the “Emergency Medical Air Transportation Act Fund”, pursuant to Assembly Bill 2173 (Chapter 547, Statutes of 2010). FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact. Prior to transferring moneys collected pursuant to AB 2173, the County can withhold a sufficient amount of funds to reimburse the county and the courts for their actual, reasonable, and necessary expenditures associated with administering the bill. The bill requires each county board of supervisors to establish in the county treasury an emergency medical air transportation act fund into which the penalty collected pursuant to the bill would be deposited. Monies deposited to this fund would be transferred quarterly to the State Controller for deposit into the State Emergency Medical Air Transportation Act Fund. Money in the State Emergency Medical Air Transportation Act Fund would be available, upon appropriation by the State Legislature, to offset the state portion of the Medi-Cal reimbursement rate for emergency medical air transportation services and augment emergency medical air transportation reimbursement payments made through the Medi-Cal program as specified by the act. The assessment of penalties pursuant to AB 2173 shall terminate commencing January 1, 2016. Penalties assessed prior to January 1, 2016 will continue to be collected, administered and disbursed until June 30, 2017.
