Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department,
to execute a change to Purchase Order with Covidien, Inc. to add $400,000 for total Payment
Limit of $850,000, for surgical supplies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and
Contra Costa Health Centers, for the two year Purchase Order expiring January 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise I Funds.
BACKGROUND:
Covidien, Inc. manufactures the equipment and supplies that Surgery Department uses in
many types of surgeries, hernia repair, and abdominal wall reconstruction. We are now
purchasing inventory supplies, mesh implants, surgical staples, and reloads from this
Novation vendor. An increased number of surgical procedures requires an increase the
Payment Limit of this Purchase Order.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the hospital may be unable to get products necessary to treat
