HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03152011 - C.15RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve Emergency Services Mutual Aid Agreement between the Contra Costa County
Fire Protection District and the Commander, 834th Transportation Battalion, designee of the
Secretary of the U.S. Army, for the purpose of securing the benefits of fire protection and
emergency medical service (EMS) responses within the other party's jurisdictional limits.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This is a reciprocal agreement to provide fire and EMS assistance within the other party's
jurisdictional limits if the need arises. No monetary payment will be made between the
parties except as expressly stated in the agreement. Therefore, any potential fiscal impact to
the respective parties is contingent on future emergency fire and/or medical incidents.
BACKGROUND:
This agreement between the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and the U.S.
Army allows for assistance for fire and EMS incidents to be extended into the other party's
jusrisdictional boundaries if the need arises. Such agreements are common among
emergency responders as they decrease response times and enhance the operational
cabalities of both agencies.
