HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03152011 - C.07RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2011/100 approving and authorizing the Public Works Director, or designee, to file an application for the federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) and/or Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) funding under the Federal Aid Secondary (FAS) Program, for the Kirker Pass Road Overlay Project for up to $1,611,000 and committing local support and assurance to complete the project. (District V) FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund. The FAS Program will provide approximately $1,611,000 of federal funds for the Kirker Pass Road Overlay Project and the local match of 11.47 percent of the project costs will be funded by County road funds. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:March 15, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Resolution of local support for federal STP/CMAQ funding for the Kirker Pass Road Overlay Project BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) of federal funding in the Surface Transportation Authorization Act and establishes an overall framework and funding estimate. As part of the programming policy, a Federal Aid Secondary (FAS) Program was identified to address the rehabilitation shortfalls on the regional local streets and roads network. The FAS Program represents funding commitments direct to counties for road rehabilitation located on the Federal Aid System. The Kirker Pass Road Overlay Project will overlay a segment of Kirker Pass Road from approximately 1.5 miles west of the Pittsburg City Limits to the Pittsburg City Limits. This segment of Kirker Pass Road was selected based on the current pavement condition index of the segment and the roadway classification per the Federal-Aid Highway System. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve the submittal of this application will eliminate a potential funding source. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
