APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
on behalf of the Workforce Development Board (WDB), to execute an amendment with the
Contra Costa County Office of Education, effective February 1, 2011, increasing the
payment limit by $50,000 to a new payment limit not to exceed $193,330, for Workforce
Investment Act In-School Youth Services with no change in the contract term of May 1,
2010 through April 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$193,330: No County Costs, 100% Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA).
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County Office of Education provides Regional Occupational Program training
and case management services to 100 In-School Youth in West County. Services include
vocational assessment, job and apprenticeship placements, employment credentialing, career
preparation services, job retention support, mentoring, individualized program planning, and
Foster Youth outreach, with a focus in the health care, information technology, and

This amendment increases the payment limit by $50,000 to fund additional work experience
opportunities and employment training. (#18-630-1)
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Enrolled Youth will have less opportunities for work experience and employment training.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports three of the community outcomes established in the Children’s
Report Card: 1) “Children Ready
for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for
Productive Adulthood”; 3)
“Families that are Economically Self Sufficient,” by providing employment opportunities
and job skills for youth ages 16-18.
