Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #74–300–4 with Community Health for Asian Americans, a
non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $51,711, to provide Mental Health
Services Act (MHSA) Community Services and Supports Program for the period from
January 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011. This Contract includes a six-month automatic
extension through December 31, 2011, in an amount not to exceed $51,711.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 35% by Federal Medi-Cal, and 65% by State MHSA. (No rate
increase)
BACKGROUND:
This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing implementation
of MHSA Community Services and Supports Program, including providing
community-based services, personal services coordination, medication support, crisis
intervention, and other mental health services to eligible adult clients in Contra Costa
County.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
On September 22, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #74–300–2
with Community Health for Asian Americans, for the period from July 1, 2009 through
June 30, 2010, which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31,
2010, for the implementation of the MHSA Community Services and Supports Program.
Approval of Contract #74–300–4 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services
through June 30, 2011.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not receive community-based mental
health services; assistance in coordinating medical, mental health, medication, and other
personal services; and crisis intervention.
