HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03012011 - C.57RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute a blanket Purchase Order with Abbott Laboratories, Inc. in the amount of $247,000.00, to provide regent testing products, rental and maintenance of Architech i1000 for the Public Health Laboratory, for the period from March 1, 2011 through February 28, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: Funded by 50% Medi-Cal, 15% Medicare, 15% CCHP Enterprise II, 15% Federal AIDS Funding and 5% Public Health funds. BACKGROUND: Abbott Laboratories has been used by the Health Services Department for over ten (10) years. Abbott provides the reagents required for use with the rented Architect i1000 testing instrument, as well as maintenance, in our Public Health Laboratory. The reagents are necessary for specimens to be tested for HIV antibody and antigen detection on said equipment. Abbott is currently the only vendor with FDA approval for these tests. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The Abbott reagents are required when using the Architect i1000 testing instrument.
