APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
to apply for and accept Lucile Packard Foundation grant funding in an amount up to
$10,000 for the Developing Vital Community Partnerships Through Data Sharing and
Training program for the period of March 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive up to $10,000, 100% Lucile Packard Foundation grant funds. No County
match. All Districts.
BACKGROUND:
The grant will support Employment and Human Services, Children and Family Services
(CFS) Bureau's Developing Vital Community Partnerships Through Data Sharing and
Training program. Seminars will be offered in each regional area of the County. In
collaboration with CFS, the community partners will: 1) gain knowledge regarding the
importance of using data in working with children and families; 2) receive exposure and
training in database usage such as the KidsData.org website and learn how to access local
data using available systems within their organizations and communities; 3) learn how to

resources; and, 4) strengthen the relationship between Contra Costa County CFS and the
community partners.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without authorization to accept grant funding, the Developing Vital Community
Partnerships Through Data Sharing and Training program will not move forward due to
lack of funding.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The grant funding will support one of the community outcomes established in the Children's
Report Card, 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children
and Families" by expandng resources available to community partners to provide quality
services to children and families.
