FISCAL IMPACT: There is an annual cost of approximately $144,079.00, which is offset from registry costs. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of two (2) permanent part-time Pharmacist I positions #8570 and #7569 from 20/40 to permanent full-time (40/40) in the Pharmacy Unit at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its Health Centers. The Unit has experienced an increased work load due to the installation of the new EPIC computerized health information system combined with increased patient load. Additionally, the Pharmacy Unit is challenged with newer and more audits from regulatory bodies. Thus, it becomes necessary to have adequate staffing to meet patient needs and medication safety goals and regulations. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Pharmacy Unit will not have sufficient staff to meet its operational needs, which impacts patient care services.
