Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Novation Contract #74–369-1 with the Native American Health Center, Inc.,
a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $213,422, to provide Mental Health
Services Act (MHSA) prevention and early intervention services for the period from July 1,
2010 through June 30, 2011. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension
through December 31, 2011, in an amount not to exceed $106,711.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Proposition 63/MHSA. No County funds are required.
(No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by conducting
community-building activities, including scheduled weekly group sessions and quarterly
community events for youth, adults, and elders in Richmond.
On August 11, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #74-369

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
with the Native American Health Center, Inc., for the period from July 1, 2009 through June
30, 2010. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31,
2010, in an amount not to exceed $106,711, for the provision of Mental Health Services Act
(MHSA) prevention and early intervention services.
Approval of Novation Contract #74-369-1 replaces the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2011.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa County residents will not receive Mental
Health Services Act (MHSA) prevention and early intervention services.
