HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02082011 - C.54RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Language Line Services, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 to provide telephone interpretation, on-site interpretation, and document translation services for the period April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: $1,000,000: Administrative Overhead (20% County; 40% State; 40% Federal) BACKGROUND: Language Line Services, Inc., was selected through competitive bid process (RFP 1112) to provide telephone interpretation, on-site interpretation, and document translation services to the Employment and Human Services Department and the clients we serve. EHSD provides services to the adult population, children, families, and employment and training related clientele throughout the County. State and Federal regulations require the County to provide public information and materials to potential, present, and past recipients of our services in any non-English language that is prevalent within the County. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: County will be unable to meet the interpretation and translation needs of our clientele and will be out of compliance with the requirements of most of our State and federally funded programs. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None
