HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02082011 - C.36RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Assistant County Administrator – Director of Human Resources or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Industrial Employers and Distributors’ Association (IEDA) in an amount not to exceed $201,600 to provide labor relations and negotiation services during the period of July 1, 2010 through June 20, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: The total fiscal impact of this contract is $197,024 and the Human Resources Department has budgeted monies in fiscal year 2010 - 2011 for these services. The dues structure for FY 10-11 are the same as FY 2009-10. However, the annual payment limit on the contract has slightly decreased from FY 09-10 due to a reduction in full-time equivalents by approximately 243 employees. IEDA has long term, historical knowledge of the policies, practices and intricacies of the County and its operating departments and is instrumental in negotiations. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The denial of this renewal contract will negatively affect labor relations services and will significantly impair the County’s ability to negotiate with our recognized employee organizations.
