ATTESTED: February 8, 2011 David J. Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: Cassandra Youngblood, Ressie Dayco C.34 To:Board of Supervisors From:Joe Valentine, Employment & Human Services Director Date:February 8, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:2010-11 Contra Costa Community College District Interagency Agreement / State Preschool, Amendment #1 BACKGROUND: The Board approved receipt of funds from Contra Costa Community College District on July 13, 2010. Contra Costa College District receives funds from the State of California Department of Education (CDE) for State Preschool program services. The District, in turn, contracts with Contra Costa Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau to provide the services. The agreement is for part-day and full-day preschool services to program eligible children and families during the term July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. The State routinely amends its CDE contracts during the program year. This amendment seeks to align the County's Interagency Agreement with the College District's amended CDE contract. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, contract will not be amended to align with California Department of Education regulations. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
