HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02112011 - C.65RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #74–376–1 with Center for Human Development, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $144,000, to provide Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) prevention and early intervention services for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2011, in an amount not to exceed $72,000. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Proposition 63/MHSA. No County funds are required. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing 120 families in Bay Point, Pittsburg, and surrounding communities with mental health resources. Approval of Novation Contract #74–376–1 replaces the automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2011. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, this Contractor will not provide PEI services to underserved cultural communities, including the African-American Health Conductor Program, the Soul to Soul and Body to Soul Groups, and the Youth Senior Mentoring Project. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This MHSA-PEI program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include increases in social connectedness, communication skills, parenting skills, and knowledge of the human service system in Contra Costa County.
