HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01112011 - C.37RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the California State Library, Library Services and Technology Act Implementation Grant Program, to provide materials and services to young adults for the purpose of creating original video content promoting library services and programs for the period of January 2011 through September 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: No library fund match. BACKGROUND: The California State Library makes available federal Library Services and Technology Act funds to develop programs and services in libraries. The grant will create a Teen Advisory Group (TAG) at the Walnut Creek Library and will provide digital cameras, video editing software and hardware which TAG members will use to create videos about library programs and the community. Posting videos in the library and online will enrich the lives of TAG members by allowing them to connect and collaborate with other teens in the city, the county and the region. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This project will motivate teens to be engaged in the library and community thereby supporting the outcome established in the Children’s Report Card: Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families.
