APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant in the amount
of $5,000 from the California State Library, Library Services and Technology Act Implementation Grant Program, to
provide materials and services to young adults for the purpose of creating original video content promoting library
services and programs for the period of January 2011 through September 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No library fund match.
BACKGROUND:
The California State Library makes available federal Library Services and Technology Act funds to develop
programs and services in libraries. The grant will create a Teen Advisory Group (TAG) at the Walnut Creek Library
and will provide digital cameras, video editing software and hardware which TAG members will use to create videos
about library programs and the community. Posting videos in the library and online will enrich the lives of TAG
members by allowing them to connect and collaborate with other teens in the city, the county and the region.
