APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with
Michael G. Ross, including mutual indemnification, in an amount not to exceed $87,500 for
administrative consulting services for the period January 1 through December 31, 2011, as
recommended by the Sheriff-Coroner.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$87,500, 100% General Fund; Budgeted.
BACKGROUND:
The contractor provides administrative and consulting services to the Office of the Sheriff
including budget strategy and monitoring, executive training, and staff development. The
contract modifies the standard indemnification clause to include mutual indemnification,
which has been reviewed and approved by County Counsel.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Sheriff's Office would be forced to secure a budget monitoring, negotiation strategy,
executive training, and staff development resource from within the department.
