HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12142010 - C.108RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Oakland Private Industry Council (OPIC) to increase the contract payment limit by $12,600 for a new limit not to exceed $172,612 for increased program services with no change to the contract term of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $172,612; 100% Federal: $160,012 Workforce Investment Act Funds, $12,600 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Rapid Response Additional Assistance. BACKGROUND: The Workforce Development Board (WDB) approved the selection of Oakland Private Industry Council (OPIC) to serve as fiscal agent and administrator for the County's portion of the East Bay Works. OPIC is responsible for processing payments and ensuring that Contra Costa County’s share of regional grants are managed and implemented appropriately. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) support to the operations of the WDB’s One-Stop Career Centers. This Board Order authorizes an increase to the contract payment limit to OPIC by $12,600 from $160,012 to a new payment limit of $172,612. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Fewer services will be available to clients of the East Bay Works Business and Career Centers. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by assisting with training and employment services.
