Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract Extension Agreement #26-894-14 with Mark Vukalcic, M.D., a
self-employed individual, effective September 30, 2010, to amend Contract #26-894-13 to
extend the term from September 30, 2010 through October 31, 2010 to provide
anesthesiology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Health Center with no
change in the original Payment Limit of $650,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No change in original Payment Limit or rates. 100% funded by Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
On November 18, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-894-13 with
Mark Vukalcic, M.D. for the period from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2010, for
the provision of anesthesiology services including consultation, training, medical
procedures, clinical coverage and on-call coverage services for the General and Obstetric
Units for patients at Contra

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Costa Regional Medical Center.
Approval of Contract Extension Agreement #26-894-14 will allow the Contractor to provide
additional services through October 31, 2010.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this extension is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa
Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would go untreated.
