HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12142010 - C.73RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24–213–47 with Desarrollo Familiar, Inc., a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $258,462, to provide mental health services in West County for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2011, in an amount not to exceed $129,231. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 57% by Federal Medi-Cal and Substance Abuse/Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and 43% by Mental Health Realignment. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Center. On May 19, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24–213–45 with Desarrollo Familiar, Inc., for the period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010, which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2010, for the provision of mental health services in West County. Approval of Novation Contract #24–213–47 replaces the automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2011. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, a significant number of County’s mentally ill, Spanish-speaking adult clients in West County will not receive the information and referrals, consultation and education, and outpatient mental health services that they need.
