Correct the Board Order which was approved by the Board of Supervisors on November 9,
2010, (C.37) Standard Agreement #29-208-77 (#10-95366), with the California Department
of Public Health, Immunization Branch, to reflect a change in the amount payable to the
County from $457,472 to a reduced amount not to exceed $322,472, for continuation of the
Immunization Assistance Program for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this corrective action will result in a change in the amount payable to County
by $135,000 from $457,472 to a new total not to exceed $322,472 in funds from the
California Department of Public Health, Immunization Branch State local assistance general
funds, including terms and conditions for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA) funds, for fiscal year 2010-11, for the County’s Immunization Assistance Program.
No County funds required.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
persons in need of such service in order to prevent the occurrence and transmission of
childhood diseases; and under the terms of this Contract, the State provides free vaccine to
the County. The Program monitors the compliance of preschools, elementary schools, and
secondary schools in meeting State-mandated immunization requirements through
in-service programs and limited technical assistance. An adverse reaction monitoring
system and outbreak control team are also included in the Program.
On November 9, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved standard agreement #29-208-77
with the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Assistance Program, for the
period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 for continuation of the Immunization
Assistance Program. The Department was recently notified by the State that the funds for
the County’s Immunization Assistance Program were being reduced and a new agreement
was being submitted.
The purpose of this Board Order is to correct the amount payable to County by the State
from $457,472, to a new total not to exceed $322,472 to allow the County to continue
providing services through June 30, 2011, including agreeing to indemnify and hold the
State harmless for claims arising out of the County’s performance under this agreement.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Contract is not approved, County will not be able to receive funding to continue the
Immunization Assistance Program.
