HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12072010 - SD.6RECOMMENDATION(S):
Adopt Resolution No. 2010/589 approving the Memorandum of Understanding between the
Deputy District Attorneys Association (DDAA) and Contra Costa County, implementing
negotiated wage agreements and other economic terms and conditions of employment for
the period beginning October 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The anticipated savings of $466,000 from ninety-six (96) hours of unpaid agreed upon
temporary absences will be achieved through a seven (7) month 7.92% wage reduction.
Although the conclusion of negotiations took longer than with other bargaining units, the
County was able to negotiate an agreement to increase the percentage of the wage reduction
to achieve the same dollar savings in seven (7) months as would have been achieved in
twenty-four months (a 7.92% wage reduction for seven months is equivalent to a 2.31%
wage reduction for twenty-four months). In addition, in an effort to reduce the impact of the
wage reduction on its members, DDAA will pay the County $21,328 on June 1, 2011. The
$21,328 figure is the amount the employees would have paid if the health care premium
changes had been implemented 1/1/10. These savings will help to alleviate the current local
fiscal impact caused by reductions in assessed valuation, related decline in property tax
