HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12072010 - C.39RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Redevelopment Director, or designee, to execute a Project Agreement and Work Program with Contra Costa County, effective October 1, 2010, in the amount of $538,700 for development and installation of wayfinding improvements in the Contra Costa Centre Redevelopment Project Area. FISCAL IMPACT: No General Fund impact. All funds have been budgeted by the Redevelopment Agency for this project BACKGROUND: On July 13, 2010 the Governing Board of the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency approved a contract with Sasaki & Associates to undertake a design program for areawide wayfinding signage in the Contra Costa Centre area. The wayfinding program is intended to direct motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians to locations of interest in the Contra Costa Centre area. An aspect of the wayfinding program is to present a professional image consistent with the requirements of the Contra Costa Centre Specific Plan, and the character of the Centre. The areawide wayfinding program will complement and extend the wayfinding system already developed and installed on the Avalon Walnut Creek Transit Village project. The design program is underway. Once the design phase is completed the wayfinding program will become a County Public Works Department for fabrication and installation of the desired family of wayfinding signage. A Project Agreement and Work Program between the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency and the Contra Costa County Public Works Department in the amount of $538,700 has been prepared to implement the project. The wayfinding signage will be installed in the Summer of 2011. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The proposed wayfinding program would not go forward. Access enhancements would still be required.
