HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12072010 - C.2RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement with East Bay Regional Parks District for the Orwood Road Bridge Replacement Project, Brentwood Area, Project # 0662-6R4076. FISCAL IMPACT: No impact to the General Fund. BACKGROUND: The County Public Works Department plans to replace the existing Orwood Road Bridge over Werner Dredger Cut (Indian Slough). The existing bridge was constructed in 1947. This bridge replacement project received funding through the Highway Bridge Program. The proposed project will build a replacement bridge of similar size that meets the current traffic safety and design standards. This bridge parallels the alignment of a portion of the Marsh Creek Trail to Delta segment of East Bay Regional Park District’s (EBRPD) planned Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail, as indicated on EBRPD’s 2007 Trails Master Plan. Inclusion of the bike path requires construction of a retaining wall and barrier at the roadway approaches. The purpose of this Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement is to provide for the apportionment of the duties and costs between the County and EBRPD for this bridge project. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Joint Exercise of Powers agreement is not approved, the Public Works Department will be unable to move forward with the Orwood Bridge Replacement Project as currently outlined.
