ADOPT the attached proposed schedule of Board of Supervisors meetings for 2011,
including the cancellation of those meetings at which it is anticipated that there will not be a
quorum of Board members present, as well as noting the following special events that have
been scheduled: the Board’s Annual Reorganization on January 11, the Martin Luther King,
Jr. Celebration on January 18, the Cesar Chavez Commemorative Celebration on April 5,
and the Veterans Day Celebration on November 8.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
Each year, the Board adopts a meeting schedule showing all regular meetings and any dates
on which meetings must be canceled in anticipation that a quorum of the Board will not be
present. In past years, the Board has canceled those meetings that fall during a week with a
County holiday, the fifth Tuesday of a month, and Tuesdays that fall during those weeks in

March, June, July, and November in which the annual policy and legislative meetings of the
National Association of Counties (NACo) and the California State Association of Counties
(CSAC) are held:

The Board has also traditionally canceled additional meetings in the spring and summer for vacation breaks. The
attached schedule provides for 33 regular meetings; takes into account and works around those Tuesdays that fall
during a week with a County holiday, the fifth Tuesday of a month, and during those weeks in March, June, July, and
November in which the annual policy and legislative meetings of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and
the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) are held; and has been coordinated with the Housing Authority
Board of Commissioners meetings.
The 2011 meeting schedule, attached, is recommended for the Board's adoption in lieu of a bi-weekly schedule, which
the Board rejected last week.
