HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11232010 - C.71RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to issue Request for Proposal #1118, for the Area Agency on Aging, Older Californians Act, Title IIIE Family Caregiver Support Program in an amount not to exceed $400,000 for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: $400,000: 100% Older Americans Act, Title IIIE, Family Caregiver Support Program funding. (No County match) (All Districts) BACKGROUND: The Family Caregiver Support Program (FCGSP) will provide supportive services to include information to caregivers about available services, assistance to caregivers to access services, individual counseling, organization of support groups and caregiver training for decision and problem solving techniques, respite care to enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved from their care giving roles and responsibilities, and limited supplemental care to complement care provided by caregivers. Priority shall be given for services to older individuals with the greatest social and economic need, older individuals providing care and support to persons with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities consistent with the Older Americans Act, which requires that preference also will be given to low-income minority individuals and older individuals residing in rural areas. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Funds will not be made available for support services to family caregiver-participants in the Family Caregiver Support Program.
