Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department,
to execute a Purchase Order with Accuvant, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $208,060, for
purchase of Wireless Computing Network Infrastructure for the Contra Costa Regional
Medical Center Campus, for the period December 1, 2010 through May 1, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
General Services Purchasing Division bid this hardware through BidSync Bid#1006-006.
The purchase was awarded to Accuvant, Inc. who best meets the Department’s needs to
implement this wireless computing Network infrastructure. The implementation of this
technology prepares the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center campus for the Electronic
Medical Records application process.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this purchase is not approved, 12 million in (HITECH) Federal Funding

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: (CONT'D)
will not be awarded to Contra Costa County. There is 12 million in Federal (HITECH)
funds. Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has to completely convert to Electronic
Medical Records to receive funding. The computing infrastructure must be implemented to
move forward with the EMR conversion.
