HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11232010 - C.50RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement #28-602-10 (State #10-10060) with the California Department of Public Health, Network for a Healthy California, in an amount payable to the County not to exceed $624,997, for the “California Nutrition Network” Project, for the period from October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $624,997 of State funding for the “Network for a Healthy California” Project. No County funds required. BACKGROUND: On December 8, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #28-602-9 with the California Department of Public Health, for the period from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. This Agreement provides nutrition education to Contra Costa County residents. Approval of Standard Agreement #28-602-10 will allow continuous State funding from the California Department of Public Health for the County’s Public Health Network for a Healthy California Project, through September 30, 2011, including agreeing to indemnify and hold the State harmless for claims arising out of the County’s performance under the Agreement. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the County will not receive funds to educate the public particularly low income consumers on healthful nutrition and physical activity practices to help reduce risk for chronic disease. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
