HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11232010 - C.45RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to accept, on behalf of the County, Grant Award Amendment #28-746-4 from Anka Behavioral Health Services, effective July 1, 2010, to amend Grant Award #28-746-3, to make technical adjustments to the Agreement, to increase the total amount payable to County by $12,765 from $111,692 to a new total of $124,457, and to extend the term of the Agreement through November 30, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this amendment will result in an increase of $12,765 from Anka Behavioral Health Services through the Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) for the County’s Homeless Program, HOPE Plus Project. (No County funds are required) BACKGROUND: The HOPE Plus Project is designed to expand Contra Costa County’s capacity to address the public health and substance abuse treatment needs of its homeless population. Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: J Pigg, B Borbon C.45 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director Date:November 23, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:Grant Award Amendment #28-746-4 from Anka Behavioral Health Services BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) The HOPE Plus Project, along with the County’s Public Health AIDS Program, will significantly increase access to health and substance abuse treatment services by providing outreach and engagement services, an enhanced referral system, expanded intensive case management, and access to emergency shelter and permanent housing to homeless people suffering from co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. On September 15, 2009, the Board approved Grant Agreement #28-746-3 with Anka Behavioral Health Services to provide interim housing services, technical planning, and evaluation services to homeless adults, including delivering integrated health, mental health, and substance abuse services to chronically homeless persons in the County’s HOPE Plus Project, through June 30, 2010. Approval of Grant Award Amendment #28-746-4 will make technical adjustments to the Agreement, allowing County’s Homeless Program to continue providing services through November 30, 2010. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the County will not receive the funding to provide services to homeless adults in Contra Costa County.
