APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or designee, to execute
Agreement #10-0666 with the California State Department of Food and Agriculture, to pay
the County an amount not to exceed $16,757 to provide labor, equipment, supplies and
materials necessary to perform noxious weed management services within the weed
management area for the period January 1 through December 31, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action provides reimbursement from the California Department of Food and
Agriculture for departmental expenses incurred during the agreement period January 1,
2011 through December 31, 2011.
BACKGROUND:
In 1990 the Alameda/Contra Costa Weed Management Area was formed with agencies and
grower involvement. It was formed to address mutual goals and to supplement noxious weed
control and eradication work that was being performed by those involved. This contract
provides funding for specific listed eradication projects on designated private and public
lands. Projects include

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
continued purple loosestrife eradication in the Walnut Creek watershed, oblong spurge
eradication in the Alhambra Creek watershed, perennial pepperweed and pampas grass
control along CalTrans corridors, and survey and treatment of six noxious weed species of
very limited distribution in the Agricultural Core Area of East County.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
A negative action will result in the Department's failure to meet the terms of Standard
Agreement #10-0666, resulting in the loss of the program and revenue.
