Subject:P300 #20866 Add Ten Project Positions in the Public Health Division/TPPI Program Health Services Dept.
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of Health and Human Services to fund the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Initiative. The
TPPI (Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Initiative) will be responsible for providing two
evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs in twelve middle, junior high, and
high schools in the cities of San Pablo, Richmond, and Pittsburg. The overall goal of the
Initiative is to reduce the birth rates among youth aged fifteen to nineteen in these cities
by September 2015. The Department is requesting the addition of these positions in order
to effectively staff and manage the Initiative.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this request is not approved, the Health Services Department would not be able to meet
the objectives set forth by the grant due to lack of staffing and this could jeopardize the
funding for the Initiative.
