HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11232010 - C.29RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE Appropriations Adjustment No. 5010 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $200,000 from the Conflict Defense budget (0248) to Law and Justice Systems (0235) to fund the purchase of new computer routers required to upgrade the security of the All County Criminal Justice Information Network (ACCJIN). FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost among County departments using the ACCJIN is estimated to be $82,000. The cost of the complete network upgrade is estimated to be $280,000. All non-County department costs will be billed to outside agencies that subscribe to the ACCJIN. The DOJ has notified the County that it now requires the County's ACCJIN data transmissions to be encrypted and has agreed to permit the network to continue to operate until a specified deadline by which the system must be upgraded. The requested adjustment transfers funding to Law & Justice Systems to fund the purchase of modern system routers with encryption technology. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The computer routers will not be purchased resulting in increased risk to the security of the County's Criminal Justice Information. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
