Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Patricia Tanquary) to
execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-551-6 with Wade R. Cartwright, M.D., a
professional corporation, in an amount not to exceed $135,000, to provide professional
otolaryngology services for the Contra Costa Health Plan for the period from November 1,
2010 through October 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member
premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care
services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan
membership contracts with the County. In December 2008, the County Administrator
approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #27-551-5 with Wade R.
Cartwright, M.D., for the period from November 1, 2008 through October 31, 2010, to
provide otolaryngology services.

Approval of Contract #27-551-6 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide
otolaryngology services through October 31, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its
members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts
with the County will not be provided.
