HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11092010 - C.39RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Mt. Diablo Adult Education (MDAE), including mutual imdemnification, in an amount not to exceed $34,800 to provide assessment planning, support, education, and training to California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) participants for the period November 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $34,800: 100% State Funding BACKGROUND: These services have been provided by Mt. Diablo Adult Education (MDAE) for two years. The services were originally at no cost to Contra Costa County as MDAE had alternate funding for this program. Unfortunately, due to reductions in funding streams, it becomes necessary for MDAE to require financial support. Diablo Adult Education CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: MDAE will be unable to provide much needed services to our CalWORKs participants. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School;” 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood;” 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient;” 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing;” and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by assisting with career training and upgrading job skills which provide opportunities for dislocated workers to re-enter the workforce and to move toward self sufficiency.
