HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11092010 - C.32RECOMMENDATION(S): Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20853, to add one Community Health Worker Specialist (VKTA) permanent full-time position at salary level QT5 1103 ($3,184-$3,870) and cancel Community Health Worker I-Project one part-time (20/40) position #11175 at salary level QT5 0933 ($2691 - $2967) in the Health Services Department. FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $41,666.90, including an annual pension cost of $4,348.03. This action will be partially offset by the cancellation of one vacant position and the remaining cost will be funded by the WIC Grant. There is no net County cost associated with this request. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department is requesting to add one position of a Community Health Worker Specialist to the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program in order to meet operational/staffing needs. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, conducting extensive outreach to the community on nutrition and breastfeeding; preparing educational materials; and providing lead direction to Community Health Worker I's and II's within the WIC program. The Department has reviewed the duties assigned to this position and has determined that the Community Health Worker Specialist is the appropriate classification. The Community Health Worker I part-time position is vacant and is no longer needed. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the WIC Program will not be able to effectively provide nutrition related services to Contra Costa County residents as mandated by the State of California.
