HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11092010 - C.31RECOMMENDATION(S): Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20850, to add one (1) permanent 40/40 Community Health Worker II (VKVB) (represented) at salary level QT5 1043 ($3,000-$3,647), cancel one (1) Community Health Worker I-Project (VKW1) (represented) part-time (8/40) position #11194 at salary level QT5 0933 ($2691 - $2967), and cancel one (1) Community Health Worker Specialist (VKTA) (represented) part-time (28/40) position #9428 at salary level QT5 1103 ($3184 - $3870) in the Health Services Department. FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $9,249.98, including an annual pension cost of $670.11. This action will be partially offset by the cancellation of two vacant positions and the remaining cost will be funded by the WIC Grant. There is no net county cost associated with this request. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department is requesting the addition of a Community Health Worker II position in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, registering new clients and verifying their eligibility for WIC services; collecting health and nutrition related information from clients; and assisting licensed staff in providing nutrition related services as mandated by the program. The Department has reviewed the duties assigned to this position and determined that the Community Health Worker II is the appropriate classification. The Community Health Worker I-Project and Community Health Worker Specialist are vacant parti-time positions and are no longer needed. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the WIC program will not be able to effectively provide nutrition related services to Contra Costa County residents as mandated by the State of California.
