Approve the extension of the sunset date of the Contra Costa Centre Municipal Advisory
Council from July 1, 2011 to July 1, 2013, as recommended by Supervisor Bonilla.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Centre Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) was created by the Board of
Supervisors as the Pleasant Hill BART Municipal Advisory Council on March 25, 2003 by
Resolution 2003/178. The name of the MAC was changed to Contra Costa Centre Municipal
Advisory Council by action of the Board of Supervisors on July 19, 2005. Under Section 10
of Resolution 2003/178 the sunset date was set for July 1, 2011.
The Contra Costa Centre MAC continues to be an active advisory council which meets
regularly, has no vacancies on the council, and provides valuable input to the District IV
Supervisor on issues within this unincorporated area of Contra Costa County. At the May

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
MAC meeting the council requested that their sunset date be extended. Supervisor Bonilla
concurs and recommends the sunset date be extended to July 1, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Contra Costa Centre Municipal Advisory Council would cease on July 1, 2011. The
community members in the Contra Costa Centre area would lose a valuable tool that enables
them to provide input to the District IV Supervisor regarding matters that directly impact
their community.
