HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11022010 - C.34RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Service Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-391-14 with Maxim Health Care Services, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $485,000, to provide temporary registry services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is 100% funded by the Enterprise Fund I. No increase in rates. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) areas. There is a nationwide nursing shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses, the Department has experienced great difficulty in filling any vacant positions. Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for patients. On October 13, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-391-12 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-391-13) with Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc., for the period from September 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010, for the provision of temporary help services including nurses, therapists, radiologists and medical records coders for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. Approval of Contract #26-391-14 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide services, through August 31, 2011. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would not have appropriate nursing, therapy, radiology during temporary staff absences therefore patients would go untreated.
