APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Animal Services Director, or designee, to accept grant
funding from Maddie's Fund in the amount not to exceed $56,500 to support the Animal
Services Department adoption programs for homeless dogs and cats. (no County Match)
FISCAL IMPACT:
$56,500 new revenue to the County's Animal Benefit Fund; no County match.
BACKGROUND:
On June 12 of 2010 the Animal Services Department participated in a special Adoptathon
sponsored by Maddie's Fund. Maddie's Fund is a community-based foundation helping to
create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a

to the Department for each animal adopted on June 12, 2010.
The Department was able to adopt out a total of 113 animals on June 12, 2010, and
subsequently received from Maddie's Fund a check in the amount of $56,500.00
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Unable to accept donated money. Limit services.
