HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10262010 - C.42RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the County Probation Officer, a purchase order with Spikes Produce in an amount not to exceed $250,000 for fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce to be used in juvenile detention facilities, for the period August 1, 2010 through July 31, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of $250,000 is a budgeted general fund expenditure. BACKGROUND: The Probation Department is required to feed detained minors in accordance with Title 15 CCR, Minimum Standards for Juvenile Institutions and the National School Lunch Program. Providing fresh, locally grown produce is also in keeping with a BOS recommendation dated 4-1-2008 that seeks to maximize the use of locally grown fresh foods at appropriate county facilities. In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for purchases over $100,000.
