ATTESTED: October 19, 2010 David J. Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: KATHERINE SINCLAIR, Deputy cc: C.44 To:Board of Supervisors From:Joe Valentine, Employment & Human Services Director Date:October 19, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:2010-11 Childcare services contract with Concord Childcare Center, Amendment #1 BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) #ff0000">Contra Costa County receives funds from the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to provide Head Start and Early Head Start program services to program eligible County residents. The Board approved receipt of funds from ACF on September 15, 2009. The Department, in turn, contracts with a number of community-based organizations to provide a wider distribution of services. Approval of this contract will allow the provision of Head Start services to program eligible children and families in the Central Contra Costa County area. This amendment seeks to provide funding for an additional five children to be served through this contract. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, additional children will not be served. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
