HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10192010 - C.30RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or designee, to execute a contract with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $13,960 to provide services for placing and servicing traps for the detection of the European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) which is considered hazardous to agriculture and to the economy of California. This Agreement includes visual survey and trapping associated with the detection activities related to this program. FISCAL IMPACT: This action provides reimbursement from the California Department of Food and Agriculture for departmental expenses incurred during the agreement period for the visual surveys, trapping and detection activities related to this program. BACKGROUND: European grapevine moth was first discovered in Napa County vineyards in the fall of 2009. It has since been found in very low numbers in eleven counties in the State. Infested areas of the State are under quarantine restrictions and an eradication program.
