FISCAL IMPACT: Cancellation of one permanent full-time Medical Records Administrator vacant position results in an annual cost savings of approximately $13,616.00. BACKGROUND: The Department is requesting the addition of a Clerical Supervisor position and cancel vacant permanent full-time Medical Records Administrator position #7264 in the Health Informationa Management/Medical Records Division within Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its Health Centers. This practice has been ineffective and cannot continue. The new position will be provide daily supervision of the ROI and Scanning Units, and will report directly to the Director of HIM. The Medical Record Administrator position has been vacant since 2005, and the Department has determined that a Clerical Supervisor will better meet the operational needs of the HIM Division. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Health Information Management/Medical Records Division will not have the appropriate supervisory staff necessary to have efficient daily oversight of the two work units.
